Comic and political provocateur W. Kamau Bell hosts this CNN original documentary series in which he travels to the far corners of America to explore race-based subcultures. In this episode, airing May 2022, Kamau re-visits the Appalachian region to meet its Black residents, who have been minimized to the point of near-invisibility in stories from and about the Southern mountains. Bill Turner will introduce Kamau to his hometown of Lynch, KY, which is the setting for the remembrances featured in The Harlan Renaissance.
